Wheel Chair side transfer

Eddas wheel chair side transferThe EDDAST
Due to the Requirements of wheel chair users, The EDDAST was first created.
The traditional side transfers of having a removable arms was good but proved to be difficult for a lot of users i.e. Lifting the arm off your self,

  • Too heavy.
  • Where do you put the arm once you have lifted it off.
  • Where do you pick it up from when you're back in your chair.
  • May not have the dexterity in removing the arm.

We Believe at CURA SEATING it is important that you can do everything your self where possible. So we came up with the EDDAST, which stands for Electronic Drop Down Arm Side Transfer.

Getting into the chair
As shown on the diagram:
Eddas wheel chair side transfer diagram
  • Press the down button and the arm will go down to a level height
    to the seat.
  • It advisable to have chair with a low vertical lift similar to the Elevator.
  • Adjust the chair height to slightly lower height than your wheel chair seat and keep your chairs as close to the arm with brakes on
    as possible.
  • Then transfer across.
  • Then press the up button on the armrest and elevate the arm to its maximum height.

Getting onto the wheel chair
Same as above but in reverse:
  • Press the down button and allow the arm to drop to its lowest height.
  • Raise your chair seat to a slightly higher position than your chair.
  • Transfer across.
  • Press the up button till the arm is at its maximum.

This alteration is available for left and right arms but dose come with some cost.
A cheaper alternative is to have a hinged back arm.
